6 DAYS GORILLA AND CHIMPANZEES TRACKING SAFARI
The 6 days safari will take you southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable national park which is home to half of the world’s remaining but steadily growing population of Mountain gorillas in the world. The scenic drive starts from Entebbe to Bwindi for gorilla tracking, and through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National park. You will engage in an evening game drive in the Kasenyi Plains in search of big game like Elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and predators. Then visit the Kalinzu Forest for a morning chimpanzee tracking session before transferring to Kampala.
On your arrival at Entebbe international airport (EBB), you will be met by our safaris staff that will brief you and transfer you to your hotel for relaxation at Via Via Guest House as you wait for your next day’s adventure to Southwestern Uganda.
In the morning, you have breakfast at the lodge and the driver guide picks you up from your Hotel and drive off to Bwindi impenetrable National Park. This is a long day drive of approximately 7 hours with lunch stop over en route. Though long, the drive takes you through changing landscapes and different regions of Uganda to include tropical rain forests, savannah fields and the terraced hills of Kigezi famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Arrival is late evening relax, then have dinner and overnight at Ride for a Woman
After breakfast at the lodge, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing by park ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start Gorilla trekking – the activity can last up to 4 hours trek or more to find the Mountain Gorillas as you hike up and down the slopes with dense mist covered vegetation. Hence you will have packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you to the face of one of the most sought after creatures-the mountain Gorillas. Upon reaching them, you will have a full hour with them while observing and learning their behavior as you take photos. You will later transfer the Ishasha sector in the Southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park, arriving in the evening. You may do an evening game drive in the Ishasha sector. You will have dinner and overnight Topi Lodge
After breakfast you go for a morning game drive in Ishasha sector. This is Queen Elizabeth National Park’s southernmost sector offers a classic game viewing experience under vast rift valley skies. Expect to see buffaloes, hippos, elephants, topis and more besides. There are good chances of sighting lions. Later return to the lodge, have an early lunch after which you will drive to the Kazinga Channel for a cruise. Cruise the Kazinga Channel and view the immense concentration of hippos at close range, spot over 100 species of water birds, marvel at the majestic elephants in their natural habitat and the notorious Nile crocodiles sunbathing on the channel bank. After transfer to Pumba Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kalinzu Forest for Chimpanzee tracking to meet man’s closet cousins in the wild. You will be amazed to see these primates as they play, swing on tree branches, fight for food etc. Kalinzu central forest’s jungle life is a breathtaking one especially for botanists, bird lovers and primate lovers! On this expedition, a list of potential forest edge animals can be encountered such as Vervet Monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys and butterflies. After the tracking, drive via Bushenyi and Mbarara back to Kampala where you will have your samples taken for the PCR Covid-19 Test before arriving at your hotel. Overnight at Via Via Guesthouse.
Day 6- Departure.
This is the last day of the 6 days and you will be dropped at the airport depending on the schedule of your exit flight.
